Seven is a lucky number and if there are three sevens luck will always come your way. The number seven has been honored from ancient times; in Buddhism, a divine coincidence of three sevens represents enlightenment, a moment when a human being realizes the meaning of his life. However, 777 is not about happiness and enlightenment but about a tragic experience of the present.

Maintaining the traditional trend in Kyzyl Tractor's research of artistic, cultural, color, sign-oriented, and performative forms, the project becomes unexpectedly journalistic, if not political, within the framework of ARTBAT FEST. This feature is particularly foregrounded by Vitaliy Simakov's installation Composition 777 dedicated to the tragic crush of Malaysian Airlines' Boeing-777, which was shot down over Donetsk Oblast in June. The information space is oversaturated with different theories and versions of the event, which further thicken an already suffocating information "fog".

Said Atabekov's large-format photo collages convey an idea of the world being whole, in which every tragedy is not of private, but of universal significance. In his works, the traditional archaic values of Kazakhstan conjoin with the realities of the modern world.

Arystanbek Shalbaev's Genghis Khan diptych communicates, in all its transparency, a message on the unsatisfied desire to conquer the world. It is the message that has extended from past all the way to the present. The image of the leader of the largest empire in history of mankind is imprinted in time and fixed as a rock.

Syrlybek Bekbotaev's photo series Red Filter and More Information engage viewers in a conversation about tradition and modernization, historical memory, and attempts to erase or silence it.

Hidden in the depths of the exposition, like local points of view, are its completing fragments such as an image of the House of Artists, which has been repeatedly represented in various Kazakhstani artworks, with picturesque landscapes and photographs of sculptural objects depicted on its walls.

Through a dialogue with their audience, which has long been of great importance to the art collective, Kyzyl Tractor tell a whole story about the modern world and its experience. Knowing the artists, we confidently believe this is not their last story.
