Paintings from the Collection of Erarta Museum of Contemporary Art, the first international event for the institution, consists of more than sixty works centered around the city of Saint Petersburg.

The exhibition pays homage to artists who played a significant and seminal role in art and culture of the city. These include Vyacheslav Mikhailov, Valery Lukka, Felix Volosenkov, Yelena Figurina, Anatoly Zaslavsky, Aron Zinshtein, and Nikolay Sazhin.

Paintings from the Collection of Erarta Museum of Contemporary Art also includes the works of Vladimir Ovchinnikov, Vladlen Gavrilchik, and Anatoly Basin – vivid cult figures of Leningrad Underground movement recognized for their formative contribution to cultural history and art mythology of the city.

The exhibition also presents Window Series by curator, art critic, and artist Alexander Dashevskiy and works by numerous regional artists such as Vladimir Migachev (Krasnodar), Maxim Kaetkin (Perm), Vladimir Fateyev (Novosibirsk), and Yuriy Tatyanin (Lipetzk).

The exposition is organized into sections of Identification, Expressionism, The New Seriousness, and Total Art which also signify perspectives and, thus, are not absolute. The categorization emphasizes a phenomenological way of perceiving with a focus on a unique value of each work.

Paintings from the Collection of Erarta Museum of Contemporary Art is presented by Eurasian Cultural Alliance in collaboration with the Department of Culture of Almaty and Erarta Museum of Contemporary Art within the framework of Almaty – The Cultural Capital of the Commonwealth initiative.
